Case 1: Lower NOx emissions without plant modifications
There were differing opinions about whether it was possible to run with low NOx emissions at low load. By analysing large amounts of recorded operating data the operating engineer was quickly able to say that the company had already done so in the past. The final comment: “doing the impossible – running with low NOx at low load – is now our standard operating mode”.

The operators realised that the surface roughness of the paper was poor. The operating engineer quickly found a better operating setup that was approved by everyone. Six hours of poor production was saved without side effects.
